Law Enforcement Trainings
I have been facilitating trainings for law enforcement members since 2023. I train law enforcement recruits and sworn officers on topics such as community policing and on the importance of upholding the democratic principles of our American society. I have also trained law enforcement agencies on investigating hate crimes and responding to violent extremism. I enjoy having deep and meaningful discussions with officers who are dedicated to serving the public.
While the conversations can sometimes be difficult, we cannot shy away from discussing the barriers that can erode trust between the community and law enforcement. Both law enforcement and the community want to be trusted by the other. Members of both groups want to be seen as individuals and not stereotyped by the worst acts committed by someone else of their group. We discuss ways that law enforcement officers can help build trust and legitimacy for themselves and the policing profession as a whole. There are many police officers and leaders within agencies dedicated to this work.
