When the city of Cambridge in Massachusetts formed the Commission on Immigrant Rights and Citizenship in 2016, I had the pleasure of serving on the committee to select the first Commissioners. I also provided editorial feedback to this Needs Assessment Report, which was produced to highlight the different needs of Cambridge's immigrant community and outline the ways in which the city can serve them.

PictureIn the wake of attacks against our ability to have an educated citizenry, that thinks critically and is able to develop empathy from understanding the lived experiences of other people in the world around them, I joined other Authors, Publishers and Organizations in signing this statement asserting everyone's right to the freedom to read.

I had the honor and pleasure of participating in the preparatory phase for the IX Summit of the Americas, which was hosted by the United States in 2022. As a Social Actor, I participated in the Working Group on Democratic Governance, where we developed policy recommendations to strengthen the democracies in our region. Our Working Group's recommendations and the policy commitments adopted by Heads of State at the Summit are shared below.

[T]he Summit of the Americas brings together leaders from the countries of North, South, and Central America, and the Caribbean. The Summit, and its stakeholder forums, promote cooperation towards region-wide, inclusive economic growth and prosperity based on our shared respect for democracy, fundamental freedoms, the dignity of labor, and free enterprise." -U.S. Department of State, About the Summit of the Americas.
